Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos set to produce TV series based on the New York Times bestseller Mexican Gothic
Kelly Ripa and husband Mark Consuelos are producing a TV show based on the hit book series Mexican Gothic.
The talk show hostess and actor’s Milojo Productions is teaming up with Hulu and ABC Signature to bring the New York Times bestselling horror-thriller saga to life, according to Deadline.
Ripa, 49, gushed about the project, saying: ‘We feel like we hit the literary jackpot, and cannot wait to bring author Silvia [Moreno-Garcia’s] gorgeous writing to life, together with Hulu.’

Moreno-Garcia will executive produce with Kelly, Mark, and Albert Bianchini.
Kelly gave Mexican Gothic a ringing endorsement when recommended it to her Instagram followers last week, calling the novel: ‘Sublime horror for your summer reading. So good i bought the hard copy and the download to read in the dark.’
The book was only published in June but is already a sensation. Mexican Gothic follows young 1950s socialite Noemí Taboada as she heads to the Mexican countryside and mountains of Hidalgo to rescue her cousin.

But when she arrives to the remote area, she finds it’s much harder to leave than she believed.
Author Moreno-Garcia said she is thrilled to bring her work to the screen, saying: ‘I am excited to see the novel come to life and to meet the talented, diverse crew and cast members that will take us on this journey.’
In addition to Mexican Gothic, Moreno-Garcia is the best-selling author of Gods of Jade and Shadow, Certain Dark Things, Untamed Shore, among other titles.

Ripa and Consuelos’ Milojo banner has largely had success with unscripted projects before this.
Last April they inked a deal with NBCUniversal’s Oxygen for a slate of true-crime series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
‘I have been a loyal Oxygen viewer ever since I stumbled upon my very first Snapped marathon that Sunday while making meatballs,’ Ripa told the outlet at the time.
‘Not only have I learned how to commit the perfect crime and dispose of the body, I’ve also learned what the viewers of Oxygen want and that’s why this programming partnership makes perfect sense.’
